Andrew Morris is an experienced Director of Music, head of department and teacher and has 40 years’ teaching experience in schools.  During his career he taught in a secondary modern school, a grammar school, a comprehensive school and an independent school.  He is a former President and Secretary of the Music Masters’ and Mistresses’ Association (MMA).  He was responsible for the MMA’s response to the National Curriculum Working Party’s proposals in the 1990s and oversaw the MMA’s relationship with higher education for many years. Whilst he was Director of Music at Bedford School he led one of the largest and most successful music performing departments in the UK while also remaining a classroom teacher.  He is also an ABRSM examiner of over 30 years standing.

Andrew is available to schools as a consultant.  He has already worked with Lingfield Notre Dame School and St Paul’s School, São Paolo, and has been involved in music staff appointments in a number of UK schools.  Advising schools prior to an inspection, looking at how to make the most of limited facilities and offering suggestions on how to best support music teachers are just some of his lines of consultancy.  He is happy to discuss ways where he can help you foster music in your school.
